שיר מספר 2: אֵין לִי אֶרֶץ אַחֶרֶת

אֵין לִי אֶרֶץ אַחֶרֶת There is no other land for me

גַּם אִם אַדְמָתִי בּוֹעֶרֶת. even if it is burning

רַק מִלָּה בְּעִבְרִית חוֹדֶרֶת

Just a word in Hebrew penetrates

אֶל עוֹרְקַי, אֶל נִשְׁמָתִי.

Into my veins, into my soul

בְּגוּף כּוֹאֵב, בְּלֵב רָעֵב With a painful body

with a yearning heart

כָּאן הוּא בֵּיתִי. This is my home

לֹא אֶשְׁתֹּק, כִּי אַרְצִי I wont remain silent for my country

שִׁנְּתָה אֶת פָּנֶיהָ. has changed

לֹא אֲוַתֵּר לָהּ I will not give up

אַזְכִּיר לָהּ I will remind it

וְאָשִׁיר כָּאן בְּאָזְנֶיהָ, and will hereby sing to its ears

עַד שֶׁתְּפַקֵּחַ אֶת עֵינֶיהָ. until it will open it awakens

"אֵין לִי אֶרֶץ אַחֶרֶת" הוּא שִׁיר שֶׁנִּכְתַּב עַל יְדֵי אֵהוּד מָנוֹר, הֻלְחַן עַל יְדֵי קוֹרִין אַלָּאל וְהֻקְלַט לָרִאשׁוֹנָה עַל יְדֵי גָּלִי עָטָרִי בִּשְׁנַת 1986.

"I Have No Other Land" is a poem written by Ehud Manor, composed by Corin Al'al, and first recorded by Gali Atari in 1986.

מִלּוֹת הַשִּׁיר מְתָאֲרוֹת אֶת אַהֲבָתוֹ שֶׁל הַמְּשׁוֹרֵר לְאֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל לַמְרוֹת כָּל הַחֶסְרוֹנוֹת וְהַשִּׁנּוּיִים שְׁחָלִים בָּהּ, וְאֶת הָעֻבְדָּה שֶׁלְּעוֹלָם לֹא יְוַתֵּר עָלֶיהָ.

The words of the poem describe the poet's love for the Land of Israel, despite all its shortcomings and the changes that afflict it, and the fact that he will never give up on it.

גַּם הַיּוֹם, תַּאֲרִיךְ כְּתִיבַת הַפּוֹסְט, הַשִּׁיר מְזֹהֶה עִם הַמְּחָאָה נֶגֶד הַשִּׁלְטוֹן.

Even today, at the time of writing this post, the poem is identified with the protest against the regime.

הַמִּלִּים רֵלֵוַנְטִיּוֹת מִתָּמִיד, כַּאֲשֶׁר מִתְחוֹלֶלֶת סְעָרָה פּוֹלִיטִית בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל בְּעִקְבוֹת אֵרוּעֵי הַשִּׁבְעָה בְּאוֹקְטוֹבֶּר.

The words are ever relevant, as a political storm erupts in Israel in the wake of the events of October 7th.
